Lily Nelsen Interview
LADY INDIE: Hi Lily, you’re a great country singer. Have you always loved country music?
Lily Nelsen: Yes, I grew up listening to country music mostly because my mom was a singer/songwriter who moved us to Nashville when I was 7 to peruse a career in Country music.
LADY INDIE: Who are some of your biggest musical influences?
Lily Nelsen: I have a diverse taste in music, so besides Miranda Lambert, Taylor Swift and Kimberly Perry, I love Ed Sheeran and Patty Griffin.
LADY INDIE: In your bio it says that you want to raise awareness about Kawasaki Disease. Can you tell us why you are so passionate about that specific cause?
Lily Nelsen: I was diagnosed with Kawasaki Disease when I was 3 and just remember being really sick for like three weeks. I was diagnosed early, but my uncle had KD as a child when there was no treatment and died when he was 40 due to heart damage from the KD. It’s the leading cause of acquired heart disease in children and can cause life threatening, long term heart damage if not treated within the first ten days of onset of fever.
LADY INDIE: On YouTube, you performed an original song called “Better Me,” about a hard time in your life when you felt bullied and isolated. You were brave to speak up about it, and it seems to have had quite the effect on people. Do you plan on recording this one in the studio soon?
Lily Nelsen: I did record it but haven’t released it just yet:). I think it’s going on the album though.
LADY INDIE: Loaded question I know, but what would you like to accomplish with your music career?
Lily Nelsen: Lily Nelsen: I want to make a living doing what I love and help as many people as I can along the way. I want to make a positive impact in some way with my music.
LADY INDIE: If you were told today that you had to pack a suitcase to go live on a desert island and you had to take only 5 things, what would they be?
Lily Nelsen: My cat, Jazzy, and my four dogs Sophie, Bella, Moose and Koda. Yep, that’s it:)
LADY INDIE: What does it mean to you to have such a close connection with your fans?
Lily Nelsen: Everything. They mean the world to me. They’ve given me more than I could ever give them.
